Missing my mom

Was watching a Christmas special and they were talking about family and how important they are ,and I started missing my mom and crying. I found more pictures of her and thought I'd post a few more.

Thanksgiving memories and more....

This year I'm not doing anything for Thanksgiving. Didn't fix a turkey dinner or anything, and sent hubby to his parent’s house. I wanted, no needed, to be alone, to mourn the loss of my mother without restraint.

This morning, my sister and I went to my mom's house to gather the last of her things. Seeing her house empty, knowing after 42 years of her living there the place would soon be sold, that it would no longer be her home, and that I would no longer drive over there to drop in and say hi, hit me hard.

Saying goodbye is excruciatingly painful. I wept for a long time.

Later on, I got to thinking about the first Thanksgiving dinner I prepared twenty-seven years ago. I lived in a small town where absolutely nothing was open on Thanksgiving Day. I made the dressing, stuffed the turkey, and did everything one does to prepare the bird for baking. The last thing I needed to do was to place the foil on top before sliding it into the oven. Only problem was...I didn't have any. Panicked, I darted to the phone and quickly dialed. When the party on the other end picked up, I didn't say hello or anything, I just blurted, "Mom, I don't have aluminum foil! What do I do?"
"That you, Deb?"
"Yes, it's me, Mom. What do I do?"
"What do you need foil for?"
"I don't know. You always used it."
"Doesn't your roaster lid fit?"
"Yes."
"Then use it," Mom calmly replied.
"But you always put aluminum foil on top of the turkey."
"Yes, but that’s only because the turkey was so big the roaster lid didn't fit."
"Oh."
Boy did I feel stupid.
We laughed over that one for years.

Living in a Log Cabin

For several years I lived in an original homestead cabin on a ranch in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The ceiling was only six-foot four-inches high. Back then they built the ceilings low for heating purposes. Trust me, it worked. Talk about a warm…no…make that a sweltering house. Amazing how one small wood-burning stove kept us nice and toasty even in the below zero temperatures. That same practical ceiling also created a challenge for my 6’2” husband who wore a cowboy hat all the time. But he managed to cope.

I, however, struggled at times. Especially when frogs hopped across the carpet, or when I stepped on a stink bug who’d slipped inside through the broken chinking, or when I battled the many mice who inhabited the place. At first it was hard dealing with all the challenges, but then I grew to love the place and oftentimes wondered about the people who had lived there. What they were like. Where they came from. How they survived the harsh winters, and wishing the walls could talk.

Living there had piqued my interest in the history of Grand County where I lived on ranches for over 28 years. I contacted the historical society and acquired many books about Grand County. The house described in my story, A Grand County Christmas, stemmed from an actual cabin in that area. To make it more interesting, I combined the details of that cabin with a couple of other homesteads there, along with their history and some of the interesting cultures of the people who settled in that area. The more I wrote, the more I knew that I wanted to incorporate my own family’s heritage into the story, which was Germans from Russia. I’m so glad I did.

My 87 year old mom, who answered my many questions about our heritage, passed away two weeks ago. When, A Grand County Christmas, was completed, my prayer was that my mom would live long enough to read my story. God answered that prayer.

My mother's passing

Hi faithful followers. I'm sorry I've not been posting lately.

My 87 year old mother was in the hospital for two weeks and we didn't know if she would make it or not. She didn't. She went on to be with the Lord a week ago today. (October 30, 2011)

Things have been hectic and extremely emotional to say the least. And now we are going through her things while my sister from Kansas is out here. It's been really difficult doing that. We have a long ways to go still so my visits here will be brief.

However, I will be posting a special blog on Nov 16th, so please stop by and join me then.

The joy of the Lord is my strength

I'm so glad I have Jesus in my life. His joy is my strength to make it through whatever comes my way. Today, after putting Him first, I sat down to work on my MS. My deadline is November 1st. The closer that deadline comes, the more I start to think...am I going to be able to meet my deadline? Then I remember that this isn't my story, it's His. He knows what I need, how much time I have to do it in, and He has the answer. I'm so glad I don't have to stress over it. He has a plan, and He is working out that plan. Knowing that, I can rest in Him and His timing and His wisdom. That thought alone brings great joy into my life and strengthens me for whatever comes my way...even a super tight deadline.

I love you, Lord.

Soul Surfer movie

Fireman Dad, by Betsy St. Amant, is a fantastic read. I love macho firemen and Jacob Greene is definitely that and much more. Sparks fly between him and Marissa Hawthorne, enough to ignite a blazing fire. But she keeps her distance from him, and he has no idea why or what is holding her back since she seems to care for him too. His questions are soon answered when he discovers several major obstacles—obstacles that may force him to stop their fiery romance from ever igniting. Want to know what they are? Nope. Not tellin’. Read the book to find out.

Against her better judgment, Marissa takes on client Jacob. Something about him lures her to him and for the first time in years she’s ready to start dating. But when she finds out what he does for a living, she quickly douses the flames of romance between them. Doesn’t matter how good looking and kind hearted he is. One dead fireman was enough.

Well, today is the day after our monsoon weather. When those tornado sirens went off yesterday I thought my heart was going to stop beating.

My beautiful flowers took quite a beating and twigs and branches are now littered throughout my yard, but... my husband and I are safe and God is good. No tornado. Whew!

Who would have ever thought I'd go through a monsoon in Colorado? Not I, that's for sure. We just don't have them here in Colorado. Not that I ever remember anyway. This is the first one I've been through. Well, that is not entirely true. We had one last week and it, too, was horrific. The only difference between this one and that one was this time we had hail the size of quarters and one of the tall cement bear statues in my yard got pitted. :-(

Oh, and I've never seen such lightning like that before either. One strike after another, followed by super loud booms and rattling windows. The only other time I saw lightning like that was when I lived on the ranch in the mountains. Up there, we saw and felt the effect of a large lightning bolt and the boom was immediate. It had struck in the horse lot directly behind our house and killed two of the ranch horses. Scared the liver out of us adn broke our hearts.

I sure hope I don't have to go through anymore of these kind of storms. Not sure my heart can take them. *grin*

Anyway, just wanted to write that God is good and that He kept my family safe.

Thought I would attach a few pictures for you to see.

2. The hanging basket was full of beautiful blooms.

3. A picture of some of the branches/twigs dotting my yard.

4. That was daisies.

5. Those flowers used to stand up tall and beautiful, but now are droopy and broken.

6. A fun one. Underneath that bush is a little rabbit, sitting up on it's rump and cleaning itself after being drenched by the storm.

Meet Anne Greene, author of, Masquerade Marriage.

ANNE delights in writing about wounded heroes and gutsy heroines. She writes both historical and suspense novels. Anne Greene's heritage:

I’m Scotch-Irish on my paternal side and Dutch on my maternal side. However my genealogy goes back to Charlemagne, and from there back to Adam.

Tell us, Anne, how long have you been writing?

Masquerade Marriage is my second published book. I’ve been writing about ten years. Reading was my escape in my growing up years, and I’ve always wanted to be a writer. I graduated from the University of Texas cum laude with a degree in Literary Studies, but worked as a photographer and as a Real Estate Agent before diving in full-time to write. When I joined American Christian Romance Writers, the journey to writing got much easier. I have a wonderful critique group, and because of their annual conference, I’ve met many editors and agents. Finalling in writing contests gave me excellent feedback, plus got me my latest contract with White Rose Publishing. So, I recommend both contests and conferences.

What genre do you write and why?

I write in the Historical, Historical Romance, and Romantic Suspense genres. As a girl, I didn’t like history—until I read my first Historical novel. Then I was hooked. I know many people today don’t enjoy history, and my goal is to open up the glories of the past to them. History was modern life lived with all its heartache, joy, and excitement in a world very different from our own. I bring these different worlds into vivid, living color, and give a painless dose of history along the way. I write Romantic Suspense because I like to see good win over evil with fast action, surprises, and discover who did it and why.

What is the most illuminating thing you discovered in researching Masquerade Marriage?

I loved delving deep into Scottish history. I am both Scotch and English as are so many Americans. I know my American history, but my knowledge of Scottish history was spotty until I began researching for this period. I loved weaving the information I gleaned into the fabric of my story. So many heroic people lived during that tremulous time. I love reading and writing about courage. In fact, a reader can find that theme in every one of my books.

Do you identify with any of your characters?

Absolutely – I have to become one with each of my characters. Just as an actress takes on the character of each person she portrays, so a writer becomes the character in her drama.

Which character was the hardest to get right?

I don’t try to get my characters right. I become the character. She/he tells me what is happening inside and what she plans to do about it, and then I just let her/him do it. That’s what so much fun about writing. I live each journey, each adventure of each character.

What’s the take-away message you want the reader to find in Masquerade Marriage?

That God is in control. No matter how awful the circumstances in a person’s life, God doesn’t let anything happen to you outside of His perfect will.

What advice would you give a new writer just starting out?

Definitely join a writing group like American Christian Fiction Writers and Faith, Hope and Love chapter of Romance Writers of America. They have classes, critique groups, and you get to meet other peculiar people like you are.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

In China I watched my dear husband eat a roasted Scorpion. In Korea I ate Kimchi, but didn’t eat the silk worm larva. Phew! In Australia, I didn’t eat Kangaroo burgers. In Viet Nam I ate some really good stuff and have no idea what it was.

If you could go anywhere to tomorrow, where would you go?
I’d like to go back to being twenty-one. LOL.

What’s next?
I am working a sequel to Masquerade Marriage, as well as a number of other books. So just keep your eyes open for books written by Anne Greene.Let’s talk about other books you’ve written. I particularly like the sound of your sassy detective, please will you give us some teasers about these books?

My sassy detective is a bit like the Janet Evanovich character, Stephanie Plum, except Holly Gardens is a Christian with a Christian world view, and she has two men deeply in love with her. She rescues both of them, but having been dumped at the altar by a third, is unwilling to risk her heart again. This is a first book in a series of mysteries that she and the two male detectives solve. Each contains the growing tension of which man will ultimately win Holly. Holly’s overriding passion is to be a light in the dark underbelly of society as she solves mysteries. She’s also out to find the culprit who murdered her detective father and painted him as a drug dealer. Each mystery she solves brings her a little closer to finding her father’s killer and taking the detective agency out of the red. The title is Holly Garden, PI, Red Is For Rookie.

EXCERPT FROM MASQUERADE MARRIAGE

Like a determined hero, the fugitive warrior strode through the door at the far end of the tiny stone kirk.

Megan’s eyes widened. Her clenched jaw relaxed. Some of her dread dissolved.

“Impressive.” Molly, Megan’s Irish maid, whispered from where they stood together in the vestibule.

He stopped in front of the hand-carved altar and half-turned toward her. Megan pulled in an uneven breath. This Highlander, wearing formal kilts, was no scrawny lad grown older, nor was he a big, hairy Scot with a bushy beard. The tall, strapping soldier stood with legs braced as if about to do battle.

Her heart skipped. Though she’d known Brody when she wore short skirts, this blond warrior was far more than she expected. Her pulse throbbed in her temples. Doubt niggled her brain. Brody was too tall, too obviously a Highlander. How could she hope to pass him off as a Lowland Laird? He appeared to have too big a chip on his shoulder to let her command him.

Brody’s thick sandy hair swept the collar of his linen shirt. Lace-trimmed cuffs matched the white jabot at his muscular throat. A silver broach clapsed his crimson and black tartan to his wide right shoulder. His Claymore, dirk, and thick sword belt startled her.

Megan suppressed a shudder. The English outlawed kilts. With his dress, Brody spat in the face of the English and further imperiled his life. Why?

His intense sapphire stare blazed a trail across the empty wooden pews toward her. His eyes made her feel dizzy as if she just danced a fast reel with a lively partner.

Molly grinned and handed Megan the bridal flowers.

What had she gotten herself into?

MY REVIEW

My only problem with this book was… I had to put it down when I didn’t want to! *smiling* I wanted to keep reading and reading and reading but deadlines kept me from doing so.

What I really loved about this book was the romantic tension between the hero and heroine. The blood and gore of the war I struggled with but only because I have a weak stomach. However, it is pertinent to the story and war never is a pretty sight.
Brody MacCaulay is a hunky Scotland warrior who is masculinity personified. And Megan MacMurry wasn’t some wimpy heroine who needed rescuing. Not that I have anything against heroines who need rescuing. I just enjoyed that Megan was a strong, fearless woman, who was willing to die for a cause.

What was this cause Megan was willing to die for? And why would she risk not only her life but her families as well? What induced Megan to marry a man she did not love when she was in love with another? Just who was this other gentleman Megan loved? And where was he, and why didn’t she marry him?
Deception abounds. But by whom? And why?
Brody harbors a secret. What is it, and is it a good one or a bad one?
What would cause someone to hide out in cold, damp caves? To travel at night with dangers lurking everywhere?
If you want to know the answers to these questions, then you have to read, Masquerade Marriage, to find out. You won’t be sorry. It’s an excellent read.
Anne Greene is a truly gifted and talented writer. Her attention to detail is exquisite. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

HEAD IN THE CLOUDS by Karen Witemeyer ~ SUPERB!

This fabulous cover says it all! Well, almost.

Karen Witemeyer has done it again. Such a fresh voice in the historical romance market. When I finished reading Karen's first book, A Tailor-Made Bride, I wondered how she was ever going to top that one. Well, I don't have to wonder any more. She did. Head in the Clouds, is a delightful read. It's super duper funny with excellent characters and honeycomb sweet romance. Some real, some imagined. But which is which? I'll never tell.

I will tell you this. The title sure fits heroine extraordinaire, Adelaide Proctor, who really does have her head in the clouds. Most of the time anyway. Until she's either working or needed, that is. Then Adelaide has a way of pulling her focus from out the clouds and back onto earth, especially back onto a certain little girl named Isabella, and a certain English Gentleman named Gideon.

Who are these two people? Just how does Adelaide get tangled up with them anyway? Does a love gone bad have anything to do with their meeting?

Gunshots follow Gideon Westcott around like yapping puppies. How can Gideon protect himself, Isabella, and Adelaide from hidden dangers that keep popping up like weeds in a well-tended garden? After all, someone is determined to see them dead. But who? And why?

AS IF! I'll never tell.

If you want to know, you'll have to buy the book and find out. You won't be sorry. It will be money well spent.

Love finds You Under the Mistletoe

I really enjoyed these two stories. Both had excellent characters that I loved spending time with and was sad to say goodbye to.

An Appalachian Christmas, by Irene Brand is set around WWII. I'm normally not a fan of novels set in that time era, but I really, really enjoyed this one. Fabulous story about the power of forgiveness.

Once Upon a Christmas Eve, a contemporary novel by Anita Higman is set in a Christmas shop in Noel, Missouri. This story shows how love truly can find you anywhere. In your own backyard or even on a doorstep.

I highly recommend, Love Finds You Under the Mistletoe.

An Undaunted Hope by Julie Lessman

Wow, this one had more roller coaster rides than a theme park. An Undaunted Love, by Julie Lessman had me turning the pages almost faster than I could read them. As a huge fan of Julie’s stories, I definitely wasn’t disappointed. An Undaunted Love, is as good if not better than her others. Filled with her usual sweet, poetic romance and much, much more.

One thing I loved about, An Undaunted Love, was, just when I thought things were going to go one way, Julie yanked me another direction. When the ride smoothed out a bit, wham! Another quick drop. Then a sharp yank in the opposite direction. Then the ride smoothed out and I took a nice slow journey to the top until… Bam! My stomach slammed into my throat, then just as quickly dipped it into my toes. Several times, I didn’t know if I was coming or going. My stomach and heart took more dips than an ice cream parlor soda jerk.

Hmmm speaking of Soda Jerk. This story has one, but it’s not who you think it is. This man’s passion and kisses are sweeter and better than a loaded hot fudge sundae on a hot summer day. Who is this man? I’ll let you figure it out for yourself.

Katie Rose O’Connor wants to tackle to the world for women’s rights. Her ambitions take her down roads she thought she would never travel. Just when she thinks she has things all figured out, her life takes on another sharp turn of events. None of which fit her well-laid plans. Or do they, and she just doesn’t know it? As if! I’ll never tell. All I can say is, this girl encounters more romance and beaus than a whole book shelf of novels.

And this story isn’t just about Katie, it’s about the whole gang in Julie Lessman’s, The Daughter’s of Boston series, plus a whole lot more. So, if you enjoyed, A Passion Most Pure, A Passion Redeemed, and, A Passion Denied, you will love this one. I sure did.

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT. So, did I mention, A Tailor-Made Bride, was excellent? *smiling*

A Tailor-Made Bride, by Karen Whitemeyer is one of thee best historical novels I’ve ever read. This story catapulted to the top of my favorite historical novel’s list. I loved the characters, the story line, and everything about it. It’s mind-blowing to think that this is Karen’s debut novel. Her storytelling, characterization, and writing skills are that of a seasoned author. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Karen is one gifted, talented lady.

When dressmaker Hannah Richards moves to Coventry Texas, she encounters one handsome, yet gruff male… Mr. Jericho Tucker (J.T.), who takes an instant dislike to her, and she has no idea why. Even more befuddling, the man is constantly doing kind things for her, despite his obvious censure of her and her profession. Whatever his disapproving reasons are, Hannah knows that her heart and motive for coming here are without fault, therefore, she refuses to let him deter her from doing what she came to Coventry to do—create beautiful gowns.

Can Hannah change Mr. Tucker’s mind, not only about her profession, but about herself? Does she even want to?

Something Mr. Tucker’s sister and Hannah do tosses more wood into the already blazing fire. What is it? And why does it cause such a ruckus?

THE BIG 5-OH by Sandra D. Bricker YOWZA! SMOKIN'!

The Big 5-OH is probably Sandra Bricker’s funniest most romantic story yet. Yep. You heard me. I didn’t think she could get any funnier or write a novel with even more romance in it than her other ones. But she’s outdone herself with this one.

Once again, my husband made me stop reading in bed because I laughed so hard I was keeping him awake. I was so bummed since I normally do most of my reading in bed. Then I thought, I can do this. I can control my laughter. I know I can. Well, I was wrong. I couldn’t contain myself. So when hubby gave me that look, I read him one of the scenes that had me guffawing uncontrollably, and the two of us laughed until our laughter sounded as wheezy as Snidely the cartoon dog.

In The Big 5-OH you will meet some of the funniest, coolest, orneriest, interesting characters ever. Take for example…

Olivia Wallace. All her life her birthday ends up with some sort of catastrophe or another. And she doesn’t expect the Big 50 to be any different. When her next door neighbor finally convinces her to take a vacation, to spend her 50th birthday, in Florida, Olivia heads out to Florida, where she meets some really interesting people and pets.

First we’ll start with Jared…aka…Drop-dead-gorgeous, M.D., neighbor extraordinaire.

Next there’s Boofer who has, well, let’s just say a problem that no one would want to subject themselves to. Not on purpose anyway. And the space collar it wears adds even more character to the pet’s many charms. And I won’t even mention the rest of the critters she encounters. Human or otherwise.

And we mustn’t forget the trespassing old man who swims laps in Olivia’s pool at the most ungodliness hour ever no matter how many times she asks him not to.

And…I think I’ll stop there. Read it for yourself to discover the rest of the cast.

Let me leave you with this thought…when I buy a romance book, I want it to be filled with romance. And if it has a good dose of humor in it, that’s even better. Well, this book, The Big 5-OH by Sandra Bricker is loaded with humor and sweet romance throughout the whole novel. So, if you’re looking for a great read, then look no further. The Big 5-OH will not disappoint.

Menu for Romance by Kaye Dacus is just as good, if not better than, Stand-in Groom—the first story in the Brides of Bonneterre series. Kaye is an amazingly gifted writer who keeps her readers spell bound, and weaves sweet romance throughout her stories.

Menu for Romance, is one of those stories that you can’t stop reading. It’s a real keeper. In fact, I liked it so much, I’m going to read it again. And I can hardly wait for her next book to come out.

Meredith Guidry is having a one way, secret love affair with Chef Major O’Hara, but only in her dreams. Resolved to marry before the end of the year, Mere gives up her fantasies about marrying Major. When her handsome remodeling contractor, Ward, asks her out on a date, she decides it’s time to start distancing herself from Major, so she goes out with Ward, hoping to find love. And he just might be the man for her…that is…if she can ever stop thinking about Major long enough to get to know Ward. Will she open her heart to Ward? Or will she remain single the rest of her life?

Major O’Hara is in love with Meredith, but because of his position—working for her and her family—he forces himself to keep things on a professional level. Besides he has a heart-wrenching and devastatingly embarrassing secret that would keep him from committing to any woman, let alone the beautiful Meredith Guidry. LOVE FINDS YOU IN HOLIDAY FLORIDA by Sandra D. Bricker

OMG. I laughed so hard. In fact, I had to stop reading, Love Finds You in Holiday Florida, in bed because I laughed so much I was keeping my hubby up. And those kissing scenes. Oooo la la. Smokin’. All I can say is…Sandra Bricker has done it again. Done what you may ask. She’s written another fabulous story, that’s what. She has such a way of creating the most memorable, fun-loving characters. Characters you want to revisit time and time again.

The theme throughout Kimberley's book, WOODHOUSE FAMILY - WELCOME HOME is "considering it all joy when you go through various trials".

Kimberley, other than considering it all joy when going through various trials, what else would you say to someone who has or is enduring one tribulation after another?

Don’t lose hope. There are many times that we think we are at the end of our rope, but we’re not. A lot of Christians over the years have used the phrase, “God’s not going to give you more than you can handle.” But I think that phrase is inaccurate – you see, I would’ve given up a long time ago, if that were the case.  As human beings we are weak, and the crises of this world can pull us down into the muck and mire where we can’t see the light, but He is strong and wants us to rely on Him. The phrase I like to use is, “God’s not going to give you more than He can handle.” Because if we cast our burdens upon him like He instructs, we really can make it through.

Did you ever get angry at God or blame God for the trials you endured? Or go into a deep depression? If so, how did you deal with it? If not, why?

I never got angry, but I did ask the question, why. And it’s okay to question. He understands our thoughts and feelings and questions better than anybody else. He is waiting with open arms to shelter, comfort, and protect us. But so many times, in our flesh, we want to control the situation, and we simply can’t. I know that’s where I failed a lot. Trying to take control of things, thinking I needed to fix them. But each and every time, He showed me that wasn’t my job, I needed to let things go.

I went through post-partum depression after both my kids were born. With Kayla it was more severe than with Josh. During those times, I did a lot of questioning. But what a beautiful thing the Lord was orchestrating during that time—He was saving Kayla’s life. I would go through all of that again, with all the heartache and questioning, because I know what He did through that.

I’ve spoken all over the country sharing our story, and there are many times that people will make comments like, “Well, we’re just going to pray for complete healing for Kayla.” Or “If you just prayed like this _____ , I bet the Lord would heal her.” I know those people have the best intentions, but comments like that always make you doubt. Was my faith not strong enough? Did I do something wrong? But then clarity comes through, and the Lord reminds me that He is in control. He made Kayla, He knows everything about her, better than any doctor on the face of this planet. And He has used her beautiful testimony to His glory. Our God is the Great Physician, and if He chose to heal her, I know it could happen this very second. But I also know that healing her completely may not be His will, and I am okay with that. I am resting in the fact that He is God and I am not. Praise the Lord for what He’s done, and what He’s going to do.

If you could visit with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

I would say, Jesus. I would love to sit at His feet and soak up His teaching.

If you could change places with anyone, who would it be and why?

I don’t think I would. It’s tough enough to walk in my own shoes, I know I would be inadequate walking in anyone else’s.

What writing projects are you working on now? Any new releases in the near future? If so, tell us about them.

My review of, WOODHOUSE FAMILY ~ WELCOME HOME

Want to see what real faith is. Real faith in action is when things don’t always go our way and yet we trust God anyway. That’s what Kim’s book has taught me.

It really helped me see God in a whole new light. Having come from a teaching that has all but destroyed my faith in a loving God, through Kim’s testimony, I saw a woman who, in spite of many horrific trials and tribulations, never lost faith in her God. Instead of turning away from Him, she turned to Him. Isn't that what real faith is? When you still trust in God when everything seems to be falling apart around you? Kim found comfort in His word, in prayer, and in God himself. Plus, Kim didn't have faith in her faith and in her works. Kim taught me that God is in control - not me in control through my works. What a load that takes off of my shoulders.

Because of Kim’s book, for the first time in a long time, I'm reading the Word again. I'm enjoying it again. And, I've learned my name isn't Woe unto you, or Hypocrite. It's Beloved.

Most of all, Kim’s book showed me that I can make it through any trial because the joy of the Lord is my strength.

Michelle, you refer to yourself as an edgy Christian author. What’s edgy about your writing?

I love to write about things that Christians don’t like to talk about or tend to ignore as if Christians never struggle in those areas. Yeah, that’s kinda vague but it’s because I cover so many topics it’d take awhile for me to list them all.

When did you know you wanted to write?

Let’s see…in 2003 I was six years younger than I am now so that would be when I was 36 years young.

Where do you get your ideas?

From real life situations.

What do you want people to see in your writing?

The grace of God and the unconditional love only He can give.

If someone came up to you and said, I have this story I’ve written and I want to get it published. What would you say to them?

I would laugh hysterically and ask them what in the world they are thinking (I am KIDDING!) Seriously, I would say go for it! Don’t hold back! Write the book of your heart.

If you could interview any actor, who would it be, and why?

Hmmm….I kind of like Trent Ford. He’s a cutie and he’d be the guy who would be Dan if my books were made into movies.

If you could be any person in the world, who would want to be, and why?

I like being myself. I would love to be about twenty to thirty pounds thinner, though.

Don't you just love the cover of DANGER AT THE DOOR? That alone makes me want to read the book.

You have several books coming out with Desert Breeze, an e-book publisher. What would you say to someone who thinks e-books are career suicide?

I think that e-books are great because #1 – no book signings are required, 2 – no postage costs are required, 3 – they can release at the same time as other books but require a lot less time in regards to promotion because they aren’t in bookstores, 4 – they reach an entirely different audience. Most people who read e-books don’t read regular hardbound books anymore so they would miss out on my stories if all I wrote were books that were printed and sold in stores.

What books have you written that still need a home?

Not many these days. I’d say three or four.

What do you want people to know about you? And why?

I’m Deb Ullrick’s favorite phone buddy. I want everyone to know I’ve got first dibs on Deb’s telephone time and I’m the only one who can call her gorgeous and mean it (and not be weird about it.)

Tell us a bit about your family.

I’ve got an awesome hubby who packs me a lunch every day for work and who does a lot of stuff around the house so I can write, do the magazine, etc. He’s very supportive. I’ve got two teens (Junior and Senior in High School) and they are great kids!

Talking to the Dead by Bonnie Grove

Don't you just love the cover! I think it's one of the best ones I've seen.

Wow, talk about an excellent book. This one is it.

This commentary will not be written in my normal review style. Why, because I didn’t start out to review this book. I only wanted to let people know that Talking to the Dead is a blow me away, keep me glued in my chair, chewing on my nails, get me a rock to throw at the jerks that are treating Kate so poorly kind of read. All I can say is, I hope they get there's in the end. That poor woman and what she goes through. Isn't there anyone that poor girl can trust? Where's the love? Horsewhipping comes to mind.

What am I talking about? Read the book and find out. It's the best money you'll ever spend.

I know this is cliché, but I don’t care. I literally could not put Talking to the Dead down. Bonnie Grove’s style is fantastic! Her writing is amazing, and her storytelling skills are out of this world!

Fabulous, fabulous job, Bonnie! Can't wait to read your next book.

Welcome everyone. What an honor it is for me to host Betsy St. Amant. I've known Betsy for a few years now, and I've read several of her works and absolutely loved everyone of them.

Betsy St. Amant lives in Louisiana and is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers. Her contemporary romance RETURN TO LOVE is under contract with Steeple Hill Love Inspired for a July 2009 release, and the sequel A VALENTINE’S WISH is contracted for a February 2010 release. Betsy has also been published in the Christian Communicator magazine and Praise Reports: Inspiring Real Life Stories of How God Answers Prayer. One of her short stories, Kickboxing or Chocolate, appears in a Tyndale compilation book, and she is also multi-published through The Wild Rose Press. What I want to know first, Betsy, is this... When did your love affair with polka dot shoes begin? ~wink wink~

I think the love has always been in my heart! Haha! I just love shoes, and when I found that red and white polka dot pair of heels, well…they complete me. Sigh. ::winks back::

(I can't help it, Betsy, I have this image of a hundred different pairs of unique style, polka dotted shoes, neatly lining your closet shelves. *smiling*)

What is your fantasy dream vacation? And why?

Europe. Germany and Ireland first. There is something so fascinating about those old world countries. Very mysterious and intriguing. I’d probably come back from there with a dozen new story ideas. Wait. Maybe I shouldn’t go until I fulfill my existing contracts first, then. =)

(Who knows, if you go now, you might be inspired to get your other stories completed faster. After all, I bet the castle walls in Ireland have many tales to tell. Enought to keep you busy for quite some time anyway.)

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I’ve always known, I think! I started writing when I was seven years old, short stories and poetry and little fun things like that. I haven’t stopped yet!

(I hope you never do, either. *smiling*)

What are some of the challenges you face with your writing as a new mother?

TIME! And ENERGY! The same ol’ that I’m sure every mother faces with whatever career they choose. Even if your baby sleeps really great like mine does, you just stay tired anyway. But eventually, you get used to it and you press on and somehow reserve enough brain power to write books. =) I wouldn’t trade my Little Miss for all the sleep in the world.

(My daughter's thirty years old, and I struggle with some of the same issues. Time and energy. What are those again? It's been so long since I've had them that I've forgotten. hehe)

Any tips for other young mothers who want to pursue a writing career?

Just hang in there! It gets easier. And harder. Wait, that wasn’t very encouraging. Haha! Seriously though, when you make time for God first, He gives you time warps and somehow everything manages to get done. Writing, housework, baby fun time. It really is possible through Christ.

(Excellent advice.)

Any rejections? If so, how did you handle them? And what would you say to someone who’s just received a rejection?

Of course I have them! Enough to wallpaper my house. Or my agent’s. Maybe both. You just shake it off and keep writing! Some bother me more than others. It just depends on if I was already having a rough day. Sometimes I can just close the email file and not think about it again, other times I will get another Diet Coke, find some chocolate, and vent to my critique buds before pressing on. But always, always, always – press on. You won’t ever get published if you quit submitting.

(No truer words were ever spoken. Or more frustrating. hehe)

Has publishing changed your life? If so, how?

It’s made life much more interesting and crazy, to be sure! All in good ways. Having to meet deadlines is actually working well for me. I’m apparently an “under pressure” type of writer. Haha. It’s also changed my life in a very positive way because between my book sales and my fireman hubby’s new second job, I’m going to stay home with my daughter and write full time! What an amazing blessing. God is good. As of July 2nd, I’ll be an official stay at home mommy! I can’t wait. If you ever met my little girl, you’d understand. She’s addicting. =)

(I can so relate. I'm much better under pressure too. That's when I do my best work.)

If a person came to you and expressed a desire to write, what would you say to them?

Run away!! Haha! Just kidding. I would say embrace your dream. Why not? Go for it. I believe God gives us dreams for a reason and we should honor Him with the talents we’ve received. So work it, sister! Join our crazy club!

(Run away works for me too. hehe Jivin' right back at ya.)

We already know that your husband is your hero, when and where did you meet? And when did you fall in love with him? At first sight? Do you believe in love at first sight?

I want to say I believe in love at first sight, but I just don’t. It’s a romantic notion, to be sure, but I feel that true love is so much more than chemistry. There is definitely chemistry at first sight! But not love. Not REAL love. That takes commitment. Its more of a choice, I suppose. I guess that’s a bummer for a romance author to say! Haha. For my husband and me, we were friends first through church and then best friends in high school before dating. When I had my wisdom teeth taken out at age 18, he was right there beside me, bringing me chick flicks (and watching them with me!) and mint chocolate chip ice cream. Then he mowed the yard for my parents and my dad told me he was a keeper. So I listened. =)

(The chocolate chip ice cream would have sealed the deal for me. hehe)

Where did you get your idea for, RETURN TO LOVE?

I knew I wanted to write a love story about two childhood best friends finding their way back to each other. I first determined I wanted the setting to be in New Orleans, as that is a special city to me and my husband. (he proposed there!) Somehow the pieces all came together after that—with some revisions from my editor, of course! =)

Tell us about your book?

RETURN TO LOVE is about a woman who works as the penguin keeper at the Aquarium of the Americas. She is hosting a fundraiser gala to earn money for displaced penguins upstate. Unfortunately, her gala’s success—and the fate of her beloved birds—all boils down to her childhood best friend’s involvement. Carter is a famous musician who left the big time after turning his life over to God, and now he’s back in New Orleans for Gracie’s heart. But she’s still clinging to the broken pieces and refuses to trust him again. Will a batch of penguins and the mischievous intervention of her church’s youth group help Carter and Gracie return to love? Find out July 1st! =)

Upcoming books? Tell us about them, please.

With pleasure! Obviously my July release is RETURN TO LOVE. The sequel releases February 2010 for Valentine’s day, and is appropriately titled A VALENTINE’S WISH. Its Lori’s love story—Gracie’s best friend from RETURN TO LOVE, and is also set in New Orleans in a chocolate boutique in the French Quarter. Lori begins receiving gifts from a secret admirer. Are the gifts from the handsome Italian chef in the kitchen? Lori’s youth pastor best friend? Or her ex-fiancé, back for a second chance?

I’m sure you have many favorite books by other authors, would you be willing to name one, and tell us what it was you loved about that particular book and author?
The one that jumps to mind immediately is THE SHAPE OF MERCY by Susan Meissner. It’s a haunting, intriguing tale of a college student who is transcribing the diary of a young girl from the Salem Witch trials. It’s just fascinating. I highly recommend reading it.

My review of, RETURN TO LOVE:

I didn’t know Penguins had feathers. I do now though, thanks to Betsy St. Amant’s sweet romance story, Return To Love. This novel is definitely a “grab your favorite soda pop and chocolate bar” kind of read.

Betsy St. Amant is a talented and gifted writer and it definitely shows in her amazing novel, Return To Love.

I loved the whole concept of a “woman scorned” theme. Well actually, was Gracie Broussard really scorned? Because things aren’t as they appear, that’s for sure, and there’s more than meets the eye here. But what? Just when things look like they couldn’t possibly get worse, they do. Gracie’s finds herself, and the future of her precious penguins, at the mercy of her enemy, a man she despises, a man she wants absolutely nothing to do with. Will her heart get trampled all over again in the process? Or has the man really changed, or is it all a performance? After all, performance is his gig. Or is it? Gracie discovers something about someone she has always respected and loved? Who will she believe? A ghost? Or the man who betrayed her and crushed her heart?

When Carter Alexander spots Gracie feeding the Penguins, it’s purely by accident. Or is it divine intervention? As a changed man, he tries desperately to prove that to Gracie, but she’s not buying it. Can he use his past to save their relationship and the penguins that Gracie loves so dearly? Or will the scars of the past destroy everything?

Debby Mayne is a gifted and talented writer who has the ability to bring a setting to life. Her characters are people you want to spend time with and stay with you long after you’ve finished the book. Love Finds You in Treasure Island, Florida, is such a fun read that I finished it in two sittings and enjoyed every minute of it, laughing and grinning so much that I was certain my face resembled the Joker’s.

What can I say? I love this story! Why? Because….

Jerry Simpson is a real sweetheart, and his parents are a riot. However, will his devotion to his parent’s keep him from a relationship with Amanda? Will Jerry allow an incident to keep him from Amanda forever? And just who is this Matthew fellow to Amanda? Is she in love with him?

Even though there is mystery in this story, it’s a very relaxing, soak-in-the-tub-hot-water-and-bubbles sort of read.

Miralee Ferrell’s descriptions are exquisite. She has way of placing you in Last Chance. You can smell the air, hear the creak of saddle leather, the crunching of leaves, and the cocking of guns. The tension is tangible, and the love is sweetly palatable. Miralee’s characters are memorable. Hey, speaking of characters…

The Renewal by Terri Kraus

A kiss of history-a hug of renovation-and an embrace of restoration. That's what The Renewal is.

The Renewal by Terri Kraus should really be titled: Sweet Renovation or The Master's Healing Touch.

I received the Master's healing touch while reading this story. I was deeply touched by this story and the character's lives. The Renewal is what Inspiration stories are truly all about--renewal, renovation, and restoration. We all have an area in our life that only the Restoring Hand of God can touch...as He did in Leslie and Jack's life. Each had a "demon" to overcome. Neither could do it on their own, no matter how hard they tried.

Just what are these "demons" that possess Leslie and Jack? Will they ever truly be rid of these monsters?

Well, if you really want to know, you'll just have to read, The Renewal, to find out.

Did Leslie do the right thing by moving to the town of Butler? Will her great-great-great grandmother's diary and her heritage catch up with Leslie? The two ladies share a common bond. What is it? Can this old diary help heal the evil that plagues Leslie? Leslie's ex comes to town. What is it that he's after?

Entering Jack. Wow, what a hottie. A hottie with a heart wrenching past. Can Leslie trust him? Better yet, can Jack trust himself? And what will happen when and if Leslie discovers his hidden "demon"? Will she shun him, or will she open up her arms to him?

And then there's Mike. Poor tongue-tied Mike. Will he ever win Leslie's heart? Or is it something else that he's after?

There's a bully in this story. A class "A", numero uno jerk. One that I would love nothing more than to slap duct tape across his mouth. Just who is this mongrel anyway?

A mystery lurks behind a door that nobody wants to destroy or that nobody seems to be able to open? How come? And just what is so valuable in that room that somebody obviously did everything in their power to keep people from getting into it?

Aunt Debbie,

I wanted to let you know how incredible I thought your new book was! I absolutely LOVED every page of it! I wasn't sure that it was possible, but I too think this book was even better than "The Bride Wore Coveralls". Not only was the book entertaining, vivid, and humorous, it really ministered to me. It was a reminder that I've been letting God slip out of my life. Livvy pushed God out when circumstances were bad - I realized I push Him out when things are good. While reading, I was in tears thinking about how tremendously God has blessed my life. He has given me THE most amazing son, saw me through the loss of my mother, given me the gift of true love, and delivered me from my own self destruction. How can I forget to thank Him? The second something goes wrong I immediately turn to God, but when everything is going okay I seem to almost forget about Him. Reading your book has shown me that I need to remember to praise God daily. I thank you for the revelation, it has changed me. Thanking God each day not only brings me closer to Him it reminds me not to take my blessings fore granted.

I am very impressed with your descriptive abilities. Reading your books are like watching a movie in my mind's eye. I also love the characters you develop, very realistic and unique. I also love the reversal role. What I mean is, Kennedy Blaine is a California rich girl, and Derek Sterling is a poor Nebraska ranch manager. In Love Finds You in Valentine Nebraska, the rich girl wants the poor boy, but he doesn’t want a relationship with her because he is poor and doesn’t feel good enough. Plus he believes he can never fit into her world, nor she his. There’s a reason why he feels this way—several actually, but one is major—for him anyway. If you want to know what that reason is, read the book. It’s awesome.

Love Finds You in Valentine Nebraska is a delightful romance with amazing characters.
It has a little bit of the ole Hatfield and McCoy feud theme woven throughout. But is the feud between the hero and the heroine, or someone else? What started this feud anyway? And who all has it effected?

What is Kennedy doing at the Circle Cross ranch in Valentine, Nebraska anyway? And why is someone threatening her? Are the threats somehow linked to Derek’s shady past? Or is it a case of a real estate deal gone bad? Does it have anything to do with the family feud thing? How does this effect Kennedy and Derek’s relationship? I love this story by Sandra D. Bricker. I laughed SO hard. I snickered often. And I giggled a zillion times. Several Oooo’s and Ahhh’s departed from my lips too. Along with a few…Oh my’s!

This really is a book to: grab a blanket, curl up in a chair in front of the fire, and drink a glass of Betty Sue’s Hot Apple Cider. What’s Betty Sue’s hot Apple Cider you say? Well, read the book and find out.

Love Finds You In Snowball, Arkansas ministered to me in so many ways. One of the things I really gleaned from it was Lucy’s prayer journal. I have to start one like that. I love that Lucy was so honest with God, and that she signed each prayer/letter to the Lord in a unique way. How you might ask? As if! Buy the book and find out.

Love Finds You In Snowball, Arkansas has several to-die-for recipes and even a few cooking tips. One I found extremely helpful and interesting.

And boy, howdy, does Lucy ever get into some pretty unique, precarious predicaments. Lucille Ball and the I Love Lucy show has nothing on Lucy Binoche.

Such as a laptop and a wild moose encounter. But is it really a moose? And was does the laptop have to do with anything?

Or, fish with evil eyes. Or was it just a small mouth bass?

How about—invisible bugs that leave itchy bug bites all over you. Huh?

Long Journey Home by Sharleen Maclaren

One of the things I loved about the Long Journey Home is the hero. Because of the deep pain of losing his wife and child, Dan Mattson turns his back not only on his congregation but God as well. When things like this happen to us, we don't always act the way we should. And Dan doesn't either. That's what makes this book so unique. The man's hurting and he acts out of that hurt. You know the old saying, "hurt people, hurt people".

At first Dan comes across like a real jerk. But you don't really see him as one because you understand why he's acting the way he does. But, before you get the idea that the guy isn’t a hotty, think again. In spite of all Dan’s pain and suffering, his tender heart shows up at the sweetest, most unique moments.

I love stories where we get to watch the characters growing throughout the book, and in the Long Journey Home, Dan and Callie both do.

I just had to share. We just never know how God will use one of our novels.

Recently, my aunt bought my book, The Bride Wore Coveralls. I called her tonight because she told my mom she needed to buy a few more copies. And here's why...

A week or so ago, she and her sister were talking. My aunt told her sibling that I'd written a book, and how nice it was to read something where the characters didn't flit from bedroom to bedroom.

She mentioned the nice Christian theme and touching message. It was then that my aunt discovered that her sister was a born-again Christian. All this time she didn't know, because changing "religions" was taboo in their family. She is so relieved and so excited.

Isn't God kewl. To think that, The Bride Wore Coveralls, opened the door for this amazing discovery is so touching.

If anyone else has a story to share how God used their stories in any way, please post it. I'd love to hear all about it.

At His Command by Brenda Coulter is an amazing story. A real page turner for sure. Brenda’s voice and style are delightfully unique. Her writing is as fresh and enjoyable as the air after a spring rain. Actually, I can’t say enough good things about this story. There aren’t adequate words. I can say, however, that I absolutely love it. So much so, that now I have to hurry up and buy her other books.

One of the things I love about, At His Command, is how much Brenda honored the heroes who are fighting for our country. Not just the men and women in battle, but the nurses and medical people too. To “see” what our soldiers go through—the guilt they endure when they survive and others around them do not. Their struggles are horrific. Your heart really goes out to them. They may leave the battle, but the war is forever with them. Obviously Brenda has done her research. I learned a lot from reading this book. And yet it didn’t feel like I was being taught a lesson. It was just there. Excellent job, Brenda!

Now, if I make it sound like all you’ll get in this story is a lesson about our soldiers and what they go through, well that’s not true. While it made me appreciate our soldiers, that was only one sweet crumb of this large piece of the cake. There’s still the delicious icing of romance, the fruit of love, and the whip cream of delight.

Another thing I love about this book is Brenda’s expertise in capturing the male point of view. I got to experience how a “real” man thinks and feels. Not just the way we writers want them to. And let me tell you…Jake Hopkins, whooo weeeee, he’s all male. A real hotty to be sure. A hero you want to curl up with. But…Jake’s harboring a secret. A secret he’s paying a high price for. Just what is that secret? And what price is he paying? As if! I’ll never tell. Buy the book to find out.

And then there’s Miss Bubbly Madeline, who so many of us women can relate to. Nurse Maddie takes on the job of making everyone else happy—at her expense of course. Oh, and poor Madeline, to shunned by someone she’s known and cared about for forever. Why would this person treat Maddie so abominably? Especially when even they think she’s such an amazingly sweet loving, optimist? I’ll never tell. You have to buy the book to find out.

One final thing… something is going on in the background that no one knows about—except for those sly creatures of course. God bless their pea-pickin’ hearts. Who are they and what is going on? As if I’d tell.

You have to buy, At His Command, to find out the answers to all of the above questions. You won’t be sorry.

The Arrow That Flieth By Day by Erin Rainwater

Now THIS is what I call a romance story! Woo wee! A definite keeper.

The Arrow That Flieth By Day is simply amazing. Erin Rainwater wove a wonderful web of sweet romance, love, humor, and light suspense. I highly recommend this charmingly entertaining story. Erin's delightful, fresh writing is unspoiled by the rules and one of the best books I've read in a long time.

To be honest, I've never been one much for Indian stories. But after reading this one, I'm definitely reading more. Especially if they are even half as good as, The Arrow That Flieth By Day.

I can't wait to get my hands on Erin's next book.

BEACH DREAMS by Trish Perry

OH MY GOODNESS! I never thought it possible, but, Beach Dreams by Trish Perry is even better than her other two books, The Guy I'm Not Dating, and Too Good To Be True.I laughed so hard. This is cliché I know, but I couldn't put it down.

Secrets, secrets, secrets. This book is loaded with them.

Oh and the transformation in Tiffany is absolutely fabulous. Now, you may be wondering who Tiffany is. I'll never tell. Buy the book and find out.

Then there's Jeremy. Oooo la la! Talk about hunky-poo. And British too! Blast! He's one hunk of a man, to be sure. Can I have him? ~wink wink~

And what a better romantic setting than a beach--in a house that gives the word "ugly" a new definition. How Tiffany and Jeremy, along with a few others, end up at the same beach house is hilarious. Even more hilarious is the string of events that happens once they do. Unlike anything I've read before, that's for sure. Fresh as the ocean breeze itself, Beach Dreams, is.

Just who is this Zeke person who seems to show up at the most "divine" times? And then disappears just as quickly as the ocean waves.

Then there's Eve. What can I say about her? Well, remember the first woman Eve in the Bible? Well, there's a reason they share the same name for sure. I'll let you figure out what they have in common.

Oh, and then there's Patti. Eve and her friend are quite the pair.

Orville's a sweetheart. He's the perfect father, to be sure. And what lengths he goes through for his daughter. I love it!

Sean and Vera...who could help but love these two? Even if they...nope...not gonna tell ya anything about them.

Well, I could go on and on about some of the most amazing characters ever. Even those you love to hate. But I'm not going to. You really must buy the book to find out. I'd lend you my copy. But no way! It's a keeper, to be sure!

So, grab your beach towel, your suntan lotion, and picnic basket and cooler loaded with food and drinks, and have a fabulous time at the beach...the beach in the story Beach Dreams, that is.

“Unique.” “Fun characters.” “Interesting setting.” “Great story.” Those are all things other people have said about Debra Ullrick’s The Bride Wore Coveralls, and they are all true. In fact, as someone who referred to it as “Mud bugging” when Deb was first telling me about the concept for her new book, no one could have been any greener on the subject of mud bog trucks than I was.

However, the thing that most captivates me about this book is the realness of the characters, their situation, and the great lesson of the boundlessness of God and His mercy especially when extended to those who we feel most do not deserve it.

I won’t ruin the story for you because you’ve really got to read it for yourself, but what I will say is that in The Bride Wore Coveralls, the scope of the sin of our prideful ways is laid bare and then shown for the destructive harm it causes in every life where it is allowed to take root and grow.

Every one of us has some of Camara’s pride and desire to be seen as worthy. Like Chase, every one of us has tried to change and had our past thrown back in our face again and again. Every one of us has made incredibly foolish decisions because we were hurt and angry.

But what The Bride Wore Coveralls does so beautifully is to show how God’s mercy and forgiveness can heal not only the wounds in us, but the wounds we have inflicted upon one another as well.

This book is not a must-read… it is a must-live! For if each of us in our own lives could understand God’s unending forgiveness the way these characters do in the end, and if we put that understanding into practice in our own lives with our own families and our own communities, it would literally change the world.

The cute cover of this novel is only just the beginning! Deb Ullrick has spun a heartwarming tale of friendship and revenge, forgiveness and acceptance, all mixed in with a little sassy spice from the tomboy heroine and the man determined to win her heart.

I think my favorite part of this novel wasn't just the chemistry between the characters, but the highly unique setting. Who wouldn't want to learn about mudbogging in the south? And come on, what better place to set a romance than in a mud pit surrounded by trucks? ::wink::

This book has true southern charm and sweeps the reader away to a place they've likely never visited - but will want to return to again and again.

This is a debut novel for author Debra Ullrick, and a very good one. Dealing with a subject matter that I've never seen in any of the books I've read, it drew me to learn all I could about the subject from the story.

I loved Debra's characters, and the conflict was very real between them. Her attention to detail kept the story interesting. I recommend this book.

A: I’m a Christian wife, married to a Pentecostal minister. My husband is the assistant pastor at our church, and I’m involved in the music ministry. I play piano and sing. I have four grown children and four beautiful, absolutely perfect granchildren – no, really, they are! We all live in Bakersfield, California. I was born here and have resided in or around this desert town my entire life.

Q: What books are on your nightstand right now?
A: Too many. I write reviews, so there’s always plenty of reading material in my room. Right now, I’m looking at Rainbow’s End by Irene Hannon, Veil of Fire by Marlo Schalesky, Abandoned Identity by Tamara Tilley – that’s just a few of the unread books. I just finished Loving Liza Jane by Sharlene MacLaren and – a little detour from the usual – The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz.

Q: Your novel, Goldeneyes, is scheduled for release in March. What is it about?
A: It’s an historical romance about a depression-era man who does something horrible to satisy his alcohol addiction, and the ripple effect his action causes in the lives of two families over twenty years later.

Q: What inspired you to write Goldeneyes?
A: I grew up in Weedpatch, the little farming community where Part One of Goldeneyes is set. I’ve always wanted to write something using that location as a backdrop. This story has been brewing in my mind for several years, but it was hard for me to get past the reality of Weedpatch in my own life and get on with turning it into a fictional tale. I prayed a lot! Once God gave me the go-ahead, He also gave me the inspiration, and I’m very pleased with the completed product.

Q: Where do you get your ideas?
A: Ahhh … the question every writer gets asked most often - and for me, quite possibly the hardest, because I’m not always sure. Sometimes I get ideas from little snippets of history; a few of my stories are major exaggerations of tiny occurrences in my own life or the lives of people I know; and sometimes I sit down to write with absolutely no idea what I’m going to write about. Oddly enough, those are the times I usually wind up being happiest with the results, maybe because I’m most open for God to take my writing wherever He wants to.

Q: So you don’t always plot or outline your book before you write?
A: How’d you guess? No, I write like I do most other things in my life – totally off the cuff. I’m what the writing community refers to as a SOTP: Seat-of-the-pants writer.

Q: Which authors have most influenced your own writing?
A: Too many to possibly mention here! As a child, I devoured just about every book I could get my hands on: Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, the Bobbsey Twins – even the Hardy Boys; I wasn’t gender specific as to reading material. As I got older, I graduated to romance and found Grace Livingston Hill, Barbara Cartland, Emilie Loring, and oh, yes – I discovered Harlequin Romance (oh, my!). Now some of my favorite writers are Joy Fielding, Lori Wick, Lori Copeland … the list goes on for miles. My favorite book of all time is Swan Song, by Robert McCammon – rather surprising for an inspirational author, I know, but it’s a beautifully written epic account of good vs. evil. Unforgettable!

Q: What other projects are you currently working on?
A: My current work-in-progress is surprising me by actually creating a connection between my debut novel and Goldeneyes, which I wasn’t expecting at all. I’ve also just completed something completely new - at least for me. While it’s still Christian romance, it will fit more easily into the Chick Lit genre, bringing in a touch more humor and lightheartedness than is in my other works.

Excerpt:

The old cuckoo clock on the shelf in the front room struck midnight. It’s persistent chirping irritated Jack Kelly’s already frayed nerves as he paced back and forth across the small room.
“Shut up! Shut up!” he growled beneath his breath, casting an anxious look at the crib in the next room. When no signs of disturbed sleep were forthcoming, he breathed a grateful sigh of relief. The last thing he needed right now was a squalling infant to further vex the burning demon within him. He had promised his wife he would not spend a cent on liquor. New babies meant new expenses, and those things must come first.
So far he had kept his promise; he’d had no choice. Every penny he earned with his hoe, day after blistering day in the cotton fields, was swallowed up in scratching out a meager existence. There never seemed to be a penny extra, to say nothing of the few dollars a bottle of whiskey would cost. With the addition of this new offspring, who knew when he would be able to quench the gnawing demon of thirst that drove him insane? He had to put food on the table and a roof over their heads. The arrival of more children would only make that job harder, and it was obvious Annie did not intend to stop at one pregnancy.
Another glance into the small bedroom revealed no unwelcome stirrings from the crib. A bright moonbeam, however, lay across the bed, and Kelly’s tormented gaze fell on the lovely face of the woman he had married. He had considered himself a lucky man when she said yes to his proposal, despite her goody-two-shoes, Bible-thumping parents. If he loved anything on this poor excuse of an earth, he loved Annie. She was a perfect wife.
Their home might be barely more than a shack, but it sparkled, and she was a real wonder in the kitchen. He could not remember her voice ever raised in anger, even when he had fallen through the front door, dog drunk, a week after she married him.
Kelly’s fevered mind wandered to his conversation with the poor fish in the cotton field. Had it only been eight or nine hours ago? It seemed an eon; every moment without the drink he craved was an eternity.
Poor fella don’t know how lucky he is. Only has to worry ‘bout that pretty little gal and hisself. I bet he could buy a bottle of whiskey if he wanted one!
With the thought, an idea was born, full-blown and itching for action. He actually stopped pacing for a moment, shocked to the core by the undiluted vileness of the seed taking root in his mind. He stood staring at the crib against the far wall and shook his head as if to toss out the evil thought.
“You’re crazy,” he whispered. His heart pounded painfully against his chest; little beads of sweat dotted his forehead and chin. “You’ve done gone stark, starin’ mad!”
And perhaps he had, for suddenly he found himself across the room, gazing down into the hand-me-down crib. He was horrified at the darkness within his imagination, yet knew full well he hadn’t the strength of mind or will to resist its powerful pull.
One more almost desperate glance at his wife’s face … if she would only wake up he would have to forsake this notion, and perhaps he could rid himself of the unforgivable intent. Indeed, Annie did stir a little and drew a deep sigh, almost as though she heard his desperate mental cry. But hers was the sleep of utter exhaustion and she slumbered on.
A few moments later, Kelly slipped silently out the back door of the little shack, clutching a tiny pink bundle in his arms and blinking back the tears of shame and self-loathing that sprang unbidden to his eyes.

I live in Texas, the Lone Star State, where history and adventure are carved out of ordinary people and presented in novels and across the screen. Let me introduce you to my February release!

Awaken My Heart is set in 1803, when Texas was Tejas, a colony ruled by Spain. Indians, Mestizos (native-Spanish lineage), and the elite ruling class of the Spanish lived and died here. The priests living in the Catholic missions helped educate and train the people in various crafts and how to serve God. From this culture was born my story of forbidden love.

Which brings me to one of my greatest heroes—Zorro. Who can forget the handsome, daring masked man who championed the poor and fought the injustices of his people? His flashing sword, generous smile, and chivalry would bend the strongest woman’s resolve. It also helped Zorro’s cause to be portrayed by Antonio Bandera in The Mask of Zorro (1998) and The Legend of Zorro (2005).

Is it no wonder that I call Awaken My Heart my Zorro book? My hero, Armando Garcia, is passionate about the cause of his poverty-stricken people, but his passion also extends to Marianne Wharton, the daughter of a wealthy American rancher. The wealthy and the peasant. The Diablo and his angel. And her daddy ain’t happy. Oops! I mean Marianne’s father is out for blood.

This isn’t the first book I’ve written about historical Texas. The Texas Legacy Series was set in the period of the Old West when lawlessness and unscrupulous characters crawled out from under rocks and attempted to claim the state. I chose unlikely heroes and heroines who made a courageous stand for what they believed in.

My review of DiAnn Mills awesome story!

AWAKEN MY HEART is one of thee most romantic books ever written. No wonder DiAnn calls it her Zorro book. However, is Armando Garcia a villain or hero? As if! I'll never tell. You have to read the book to find out.

Does Marianne Wharton see right through Armando's mask...er... um I mean through his tough man, villainous facade? And if so, what does she find? A friend or a foe?

And, you've heard the expression... If mama ain't happy, nobody's happy. Well, in AWAKEN MY HEART's case the saying goes...If Marianne's daddy ain't happy, nobody's happy. Why? hehe Yeah right.... as if I'd tell. Buy the book and find out.

A PASSION MOST PURE by Julie Lessman

Now this is what I call a romance! I love this story!

Julie Lessman does a fabulous job of showing the struggles that women and men go through, and she does it with such genuineness, finesse, style, tactfulness, and grace. A PASSION MOST PURE is filled with romance, passion, and restraint. However, I didn't just love this story because it's loaded with romance, (although that was a major plus with me) this fabulous novel is filled with Holy Ghost conviction, conflict, rivalry, and true-to-life struggles. Julie’s characters are sensational and lovable. Well, with the exception of one person perhaps. *smiling* But I'm not telling you who or why. You'll have to read the book to find out. Trust me you won't be disappointed. In fact, there were so many pleasant and not so pleasant surprises, and so many twists and turns in A PASSION MOST PURE, that I couldn't stop turning the pages, and neither will you.

So, if you're looking for a story filled with romance, kissing, and passion that's handled with excellence, this story is for you.

As for me…I can't wait to read Julie’s next book!

Today it's snowing and today my furnace went out, thus leaving me without heat. How cool is that? Wait! Did I just say cool and heat in the same paragraph? I must be nuts. Or either that, the cold is freezing my brain cells one by one. Not that there are many left, mind you. hehe

Well, if anyone reads this, please pray for our furnace situation and a financial miracle to pay for it. And if you don't hear from me again, just know that I died of hypothermia. hehehe. Such a drama queen, I know.

Well, I'm working on the sequel to The Bride Wore Coveralls. I'm over halfway finished. I can't wait till I write the words... The End. Such a great feeling that is.

I can't believe I'm actually posting.

As you can tell, I haven't posted in a very long time. Mostly due to the fact that I've been busy writing and getting settled into our new home. Every time I would think about blogging, I wondered what to say, and wondered what others said in their blogs. I know some people post interviews--some tell about their upcoming books, and others post book reviews etc. While I've read a scad of fabulous books lately, I haven't posted any reviews. My excuse. None.

All that's is fixin' to change. I went to a dear friend's website and read her blog. It inspired me to start posting on mine again. I've decided to use this blog as a journal of sorts.

There was a time when all I thought about was death. Life had become too difficult and hope was non-existent in my life. That's part of the reason for a lack of posting and the lack of writing book reviews. Thank God, a few months ago, Jesus pulled me out of the pit of darkness and shed His light on my situation. You see, I had avoided reading the Word of God, avoided praying because I no longer trusted God due to horrific circumstances and ignorance in my life. I hurt no one but myself. I was dying a slow, agonizing death. To some this might sound simple, but learned that if I didn't put Christ, prayer, and worshipping God first, and keep my focus on Him, there is no life. Only death. Circumstances, fear, doubt, failure, people, being overweight, lack of feeling secure, etc. etc. etc. had all but swallowed me up and was choking the very life out of me. This pit dweller had only one option remaining to her... bury herself deeper in the pit of self-pity and self-focus,or look up. Cry out to Jesus to rescue you. I cried out to the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me out of the pit of destruction and despair.

My priorities are in order. My life has been resurrected.
To God be the glory.

Ripped from the pit of despair!

Bet you thought I'd disappeared from the planet, eh? hehe Nope. Just finally getting settled into my new home.

Most of you don't know this, but I was at the end of my rope. I was so depressed for so long that the very life was being sucked out of me. In fact, all I thought about was death. But God, in His grace and mercy delivered me from that pit about six months ago. The really kewl part is, it was before I received answers to my many desperate prayers. In other words, it wasn't BECAUSE He answered my prayers that I was jerked from that pit. It was only because of His grace and His mercy and His delivering power that I'm free. I'm going to write a book titled: When All I Thought About Was Death. It will be the hardest book I've ever written. It will speak of my eight year bout with bulimia, depression, a major church abuse that left me suicidal, controlling in-law abuse, an emotional affair, and much much more. This will be my first non-fiction story. And whether it ever goes to a publisher, I don't know. Only God does. But I know it will be therapeutic for me and others who read it.

Well, I finished my first round of revisions for The Bride Wore Coveralls. What an experience that was. Once I understood what to do and what was needed I had a blast making the changes. And my story is SO much stronger because of the reviewer's suggestions.

Hey, if any of you haven't read Deborah Raney's book, REMEMBER TO FORGET, well don't miss it. It was fabulous. I love stories where I almost become the heroine or hero and this one didn't disappoint in that area. This is one of those books that you can't put down. I know that sounds cliche, but hey, is there really a better way to say, I LOVED IT!!!!

I'm sorry to say, but I have to go now. So....

Busy, busy, busy!

Sheesh, I can't believe how crazy things have been around here. I'm totally shocked how long it's been since my last post.

My only excuse is, we've been looking for a house.

The good news is, after months of searching, we finally found one. But, aye, yi yi, I can't believe what we've gone through in the process.

One house we looked at had snakes in the basement. Can you believe it? Snakes! Yikes! Well, it was them or me... so I left.

Another place reminded me of the renovated house in the movie Home Alone 2.

One home had a wood foundation. How bizarre is that? Can you imagine after a few snow or rain storms? Can we say dry rot? Yikes! The only good thing about it is, if a tornado ever went through the place your whole house would already be under ground. Sheesh.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot...every time we found a house we really liked, somebody beat us to a contract or made a higher offer. Ya wanna know the really weird part about that? Say yes, okay? Thanks. Some of them had just gone on the market only hours before.

Need I say more?

Don't mind if I do thank you. *smiling*

House hunting has been quite an adventure for sure. Not one I care to repeat, thank you very much. Between boarded up windows and garages, stained beyond salvation carpets, rotted bathroom floors, and houses in desperate need of cosmetic face lifts inside and out, God led us to the sweetest house that only needs yard work and a door. It will meet all of our needs and then some.

The Lord has given us favor with the sellers. A long story indeed. God also blessed us with a washer, dryer and refrigerator, which we needed desperately.

So, on July 9th, if all goes well, we will be closing on our first home and moving in ASAP. Yippy!! Wahoo!!! I'm SO excited! Scared! Excited! Nervous! Happy! Did I mention scared? hehe

Oh sassy, sassy, sassy! Did I say sassy? Good. That's what Debra Clopton's, MEETING HER MATCH, is. Not only that, it's fun and super-duper-fantastic. Debra's characters are fun-loving, busy-body, match-making, oo-la-la, smokin' hot and don't forget sassy. *smiling* And ya gotta luv that rebellious, taffy chewing donkey.

And oh, oh, can we say hottie? Like in the perfect macho male specimen. I wonder if my husband would mind if I drooled over Pace Gentry for a short spell. Perhaps I shouldn't tell him and just do it anyway. hehe

I have to ask... Is Pace Gentry the rude, egotistical, arrogant man he appears to be? Or does Sheri Marsh bring out the worst in him?
I'll never tell.

And what really makes Sheri Marsh act the way she does? Is she protecting herself? If so, why? Or is it whom? Does Sheri's scheming plan to get back at the busy-body, match-making ladies backfire on her?
Yeah right. As if "I'D" tell.

Sorry, you just have to read, MEETING HER MATCH by Debra Clopton to find out. In fact, every one of Debra's Mule Hollow series is SOOOO good! Her characters are so not the typical stereo-type for sure, and her writing style is fresh and unique.

What a super-duper feeling to hold it in my hand, to see MY name on it, and to know that my dream finally came true. But boy howdy, I so didn't want to cash my check from Barbour Publishing. I wanted to hold onto it forever. But, hey, I'm no dummy. I took a photo copy of it instead. ~Cheeky Grin*

I hope and pray there are many many more to come. *smiling* Am I bad? ~snicker snicker~ NOPE... just hopeful.

Did that grab your attention? I thought it might. ~cheeky grin~ That's the title of Sharon Dunn's latest book. And let me tell you, it was a fun mystery! Wait! Did I just say fun and mystery in the same sentence? Hmmmm...Oxy-moron? Or truth? You decide.

Let me tell ya... I had an absolute blast reading DEATH OF A GARAGE SALE NEWBIE. The characters were zany, a little eccentric, crazy, murderous, sweet, a little on the wacky side, young, old, fat, skinny, and a whole lot of fun.

In this story, Laney is in love with Galen. But Galen only sees her as his best friend's tag-a-long sister. For years, Laney claims the scripture, Delight yourself in the Lord and He'll give you the desires of your heart. Trust also in Him and He will bring it to pass. However, when some squatters come to live on Galen's land, one thing leads to another until all of Laney's hopes are shattered when Galen comes face to face with a shotgun. When things look utterly hopeless for Laney, God takes what the devil meant for evil and brings it to His glory. Just like the story of Joseph in the Bible. What Joseph's brothers meant for his destruction, God turned it around for good by saving a whole nation from severe famine. Laney's heart's desire appears doomed too, until God turns it around for good. Not just for Laney, but for all of those involved. Including the undeserving squatters living on Galen's land.

You have to read the story to find out what I'm talking about. *smiling*

Well, this review is definitely not going to be a normal review, because I'm about to get personal. Before reading BITTERSWEET, I, Debra, was bathed in hopeless. Everything in my life felt as though hell itself had moved into my heart, body, soul, and mind. And that's putting it mildly. Depression, hopelessness, fear, despair and many other unmentionable emotions had become my constant, familiar companions. Then I read BITTERSWEET.

What ministered to me the most in this life-changing story was when I read where Laney had to give up her dreams and hopes and trust that God had something far beyond what she could ever want, it showed me something big time. I saw that I was holding onto my dreams so tightly that I was consumed by them. The more I saw my dreams fading, becoming but a mere shadow of hope, the more desperate, depressed, and hopeless I'd become. Like Laney, it was only after I released my hopes and dreams to God, and truly chose to believe and trust that He has something better for me, that I experienced true freedom. My burden's been lifted. And hope has replaced the darkness that had overshadowed and consumed my life. When we truly let go and allow God to take charge of our lives, then, and only then, is God free to work on our behalf.

BITTERSWEET by CATHY MARIE HAKE, is a story about hope, love, redemption, trust, and true Christian charity. But mostly, it's about letting go and letting God no matter how hopeless things look. And that God is a God of second chances... of third chances... of fourth, fifth and so on.

Therefore, I suggest that anyone who is struggling with any of these issues buy this book. And even if you aren't struggling, and you're just looking for a great story with class, style, adventure, and fantastic characters, then BITTERSWEET is for you.

Woowee!! I just finished reading Lightning and Lace. DiAnn Mills was right. Things aren't always what they seem. What I thought was going to happen, didn't. Way to go, DiAnn.

If you crave adventure... LIGHTNING AND LACE is for you. If you love a story with characters you'll miss when you're done reading... then LIGHTNING AND LACE is for you.

LIGHTNING AND LACE is a real page turner. The characters are fascinating. The plot is amazing and unpredictable~~~definitely unpredictable. And the metaphors are fresh and fit perfectly with the time. DiAnn is an excellent story teller with a wild and vivid imagination. And for your 411, all of DiAnn's stories are equally fascinating, and equally adventurous. You won't want to miss any of them.

Now, back to LIGHTNING AND LACE~~~ (Sounds like I just finished a commercial huh? Now back to our regularly scheduled program. hehe)

What does a shaggy bearded pastor with a jaded past, a beautiful, feisty widow woman with a shameful secret, her rebellious, prankster son, several ex-brothel women, a sinister banker and his sweet wife, a stabbing that ends in death, lies and malicious gossip, and being held at gunpoint all have in common? A really fantastic, emotion-filled, adventurous story, that's what.

I highly recommend this story. So, don't delay another minute. Make haste. Run out to your nearest book store and buy LIGHTNING AND LACE by DiAnn Mills. THAT'S IT!

Okay, that's it! How dare that pig-of-a-banker man do that to an innocent boy. EWWWWWWW... I wanna rewrite LIGHTNING AND LACE. Not because DiAnn didn't do an excellent job, but because I want to have her villain shot by a drunk. And while he's lying in a pool of blood, he confesses every wretched thing he's ever done, and then he dies while the whole town is looking on and cheering. Sounds sadistic I know, but ewwww that vile man.

As you can tell from my comments, DiAnn does a fantastic job of getting your emotions involved. I know as a Christian, I should rewrite that his heart couldn't stand it any longer. That he confesses every ghastly thing he's ever done and truly repents. So much so, that he turns into Mr. Nice Guy. But, so far that hasn't happen; if it ever does. So... I want the beast to pay for what he's done! I LOVE THIS STORY! Lester is a villain you love to hate. Am I bad? hehe (Don't answer that.)

Well, I'm getting close to the end of the story. I wish I didn't have stuff to do today. I SO want to finish DiAnn's book. I just gotta find out what happens and if Lester pays for his devilish ways.

Constance has a secret that makes Hans wonder if she can be trusted. Can you guess what it is? No. Well, buy the book and find out. Oh, and what do Jim Mitchell, a mysterious dying wish, Constance, Hans, an abandoned house, stolen gold, a horse accident, splinters and broken boards all have in common? Long time no chat... or so it seems. hehe

I don't know how all you bloggers do it. I have a terrible time keeping up with this thing. I have so much on my plate right now that I don't seem to have time.

However, I wanted to toss out something here. Lately, I've noticed some negative reviews. It got me to thinking. When someone trashes a story, that doesn't mean that that story isn't any good, it just means that one person didn't like it. We all have different tastes and styles. Some love mystery's while others hate them. Whose right? Both. I really believe that some times our mood plays a big part in whether or not we like something. For example, my daughter kept trying to get me to watch a certain movie. I tried, but hated it. I couldn't even get past the first ten minutes. Several people kept asking me if I'd seen such an such a movie. I finally broke down and rented it again. I loved it! And yet it was the same movie. So what had changed? After much contemplation, I ascertained that it was the mood I was in. It was the same way with the movie, Persuasion, written by Jane Austen. By the way, for those of you who don't know this about me, I'm a huge Jane Austen fan. Anyway, the first time I watched that movie, I thought it was really boring and dumb. Then one day when I was super bored and in the mood for a renaissance movie. The past week, I'd watch all four versions of Pride and Prejudice, both versions of Sense and Sensibility, both versions of Emma, Mansfield Park, and I can't think of the name of the other Jane Austen movie, but I'd watched it too. Because I'd seen all of the above about twenty times and had only seen Persuasion once, I decided to watch it again. To my amazement, I absolutely loved it and it has become one of my favorites. So, why am I telling you all of this? Because I really believe that sometimes mood has something to do with whether or not we like something. Not always, of course, but it can play a huge factor. When I sit down to read a book and I find it boring or monotonous, I put it aside for awhile and find something else to read. Sometimes I go back to it and try reading it again. If this goes on several times then I know it is a book that is not for me, or just a really boring story.

Recently I suggested that a dear friend read what I deemed a fantastic story. I just knew she would love it. When she wrote me and told that she thought it was just okay, I was stunned to say the least. She and I have the same taste in stories. But this time, she saw things in it that I didn't. It got me to wondering if she really didn't like it, or if perhaps she read it with her editor's cap on and not her reader's cap. What I mean by that is, sometimes, we as writers, read in an editor's mode. We pick out things that we would have never noticed when we were just readers. However, once we learned the rules and guidelines of writing, it caused a lot of us to now see things in the stories that we would have never noticed before. Like head-hopping, or poor sentence structure, or mistakes etc. Where as before, we just read and the only thing we judged it by was whether or not we liked the story or not. After talking to her, I realized that it just wasn't her flavor of tea. Did that mean that the story was bad? Was she right and I was wrong? No way! It just means that you have two people with two different tastes.

So, if anyone has been hurt by a bad review, or even some not-so-positive comments, take heart. It's just one person's opinion. Now, if twenty out of twenty-five people don't like it, then maybe you need to find out what you're doing wrong and work on perfecting your craft. But, if you get one or two bad reviews and ten great reviews, chalk it up to that that person either didn't care for it because it wasn't their type of story, or the mood there were in that day didn't fit your particular story. It doesn't mean that you wrote a mooey-poopey novel. It just means that it was one person's opinion. It's kinda like... One person loves liver and onions. I myself gag just smelling it. I heave every time. Does that mean that the person who loves it is right and I'm wrong? Nope! It means they liked it and I didn't. So it is with our novels.

So, when you get a negative review, ask God if there is something you need to work on, or if the person was just having a bad hair day, or if your story just wasn't their type of book. But most of all~~~ keep writing.

Having a hard time lately.

Sorry all, but this post is a downer. I'm really discouraged. My husband and I need to move from my brother's house, long story, and yet nothing is opening up for us. We only have enough money for a couple of month's rent and after that...

I've never moved knowing that the money wasn't there to make the rent. I don't like doing it now. And yet, my brother and his family need the money. Since my sister-in-law's passing, my brother's finances have taken a nose dive and we need to move so they can get the financial aid they need by having my nephew's friend move in. I'm sick with the idea of causing them more stress by our still being here. We have no prospect of making more money at the time, and yet, we really need to move. I don't want to be the cause of my brother and his family not having their needs met, and we can't help them.

We've prayed and prayed. My husband's even tried starting his own business. All to no avail. I have no clue what our answer is. The stress is taking its toll on my marriage and our health.

So, whoever reads this, please pray that God will show us what to do. And that He will make His will and direction clear to us. I don't want to play guessing games, wondering about God's leading. We really need clear direction.

Brain freeze

Well, I've read several more terrific Heartsong Presents, and I'm ashamed of myself that I haven't written a review for them yet. I will... eventually.

I've been in a writing stupor. Two of my WIP's have been falling flat. No matter what I prayed, what I tried, the stories were going no where. In fact, I wondered if I would ever be able to write another story. Panic had set in. What if I can't? Not able to handle that frightening idea, I sat down and tried harder. Again, it fell to the ground. Again I panicked. After nearly scarfing up a big of black jelly beans, I came to my senses and called my dear friend Staci. She gave me just what I needed... like always. She told me to just write. Not to think about it, but to write no matter how strange it seemed. Most importantly, she said to ask the Lord to write His story through me. Which I did. And low and behold... my story took off. And so am I...
